Lake Pleasant Fishing report 6/6/23. Bass, stripers and white bass are actively feeding on shad and bass fry. There has been a lot of activity from sunrise-10am and 4pm-sunset. Look for the "Boils".
If you have good electronics, look for the bigger stripers in deeper water. Trolling a 3.8"-4.4" 6th Sense Divine swim bait on a 1/2oz jig head is very effective to catch a few active fish higher in the water column. Once you locate them, I suggest dropping a big 6th Sense flutter spoon down to them vertically jigging from 50-90ft deep. The bigger fish are keying in on the gizzard shad and if you get that spoon close to them they will eat it. Our biggest this year so far has been 12lbs but we are consistently catching 5-9lbers.
With the water temps increasing, most fish are pulling out of the creek channels and into deeper water. Look for the Bass off main lake points throwing a top water like the 6th Sense fishing Dogma and then drag a drop shot worm of your choice down the points to 25-30ft.
The Stripers are going bananas in the main lake pushing fry to the surface which often makes catching them frustrating because they are keyed into such tiny bait. You can chase them with your trolling motor but it is best to keep your boat in a position they are pushing to and wait until you can cast a topwater on their nose. Some will commit to the bigger Dogma or Spook style walking bait early but scaling down to a Hedon Zara Puppy will always get a few.
I would predict the next few weeks being good until we come into the month of July so enjoy it while it last. Soon the stripers will go to the deep, cooler water during the day and we will have to transition to night fishing with green lights and cut anchovies.
